In an effort to support the preservation and development of regional cultural values, the Cultural Preservation Center held the SASAKA CIBANTEN activity as a form of appreciation for the rich traditions and local wisdom of the Banten people.
The Sasaka Cibanten activity is a series of events held in three areas, namely upstream, middle, and downstream, involving various local cultural communities.
Kaujon Cultural House is one of the activity venues in the central area, which will be the location for the Gastronomy Exhibition: Exploring Colonial Flavors.

The Gastronomy Exhibition: Exploring Colonial Flavors is an effort to revive the culinary and gastronomic richness of the Indonesian archipelago and Banten from the colonial era. Recipe books from the Umah Budaya Kaujon Museum serve as inspiration for highlighting the richness of Indonesian cuisine from the past.
The recipe book reveals the profound influence of foreign cultures, particularly European ones, on Indonesian cuisine. The fusion of Western and Indonesian cultures began to become increasingly prevalent in the 19th century, a fusion later known as ‘Indies culture’ (Soekiman, 2000: 26-27).
Culinary culture is a reflection of the culture of a society. Each recipe contains a story, a cultural integration, and a nostalgia for a flavorful past.
KAUJON CULTURAL HOUSE
Umah Budaya Kaujon is a cultural space born out of the need for a venue for arts practice, critical discussion, and non-formal education in the city of Serang. Housed in a colonial-era building that preserves the history of local struggles, it now also exists as the Umah Budaya Kaujon Museum.
Kaujon Cultural House exists to preserve collective memory and foster new hope in the cultural dynamics of Banten, particularly Serang. Kaujon Cultural House is committed to connecting the arts and culture community, researchers, educators, and the wider community to jointly preserve, care for, and revive traditions.
With the aim of building a healthy, sustainable arts, culture, and education ecosystem rooted in local strengths, we act as a bridge between ancestral heritage and the present, inviting the public to view culture as a source of inspiration and vitality relevant to current developments through inclusive and sustainable programs.
